Since December I’ve been trying to get my head around the Digital Marketing world and what it has to offer and what kind of worlds can be conquered all with the flick of my phone.
Having sat through some intense classes on SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and Analytics (mostly powered by Google) I realised there is a lot more to our favourite social media platforms than just posting a pic or a random status update or even a random blog post or two.
Everything I’ve ever known about blogs and keywords have been set right here on WordPress. I didn’t have to do anything just write a few words. Now and then I’d add a pretty picture and I figured the masses would come. Nothing. Maybe the three people who usually like my page but no comments or interaction of any kind.
It was the same with the new diary novel I started in December. I tried a different platform. I thought I could actually build a kind of website. (Laughter)
No! So I came back to what I know. WordPress. Where there is more of a community spirit and I don’t have to over think things too much.
Last week I had to complete an internship as part of our assessment and I think it went well. I had moments of terror when I thought to myself that in reality I really knew very little about anything but luckily the Coach-Clinic were very gracious in there understanding that I am completely green at this whole thing. Happily I’ve been surprising even myself. Have a little faith they said! Their Twitter following has started increasing during the five days I spent with them and their Facebook page has also started gaining traction. Obviously I was doing something right.
Now I need to formulate an editorial plan for the coming month so that it’s not just crickets on the Facebook page and the website blog but some kind of actual engaging content that will increase their leads which would then mean a job well done from the digital side of things. It’s hard work. Lots of mental ingenuity but I am gaining more insight and faith in this new skill I’ve come to grow very in love with.
Have a look about and obviously if you have any advice where I should improve please feel free to be positively critical as you can. I’m new at this and can do with all the advice you out there might have to offer.
Thanks for the read.
